To an extent, yes Windows 7 tries to be better but an upgrade is always an upgrade and Windows 10 is the "upgrade"

Despite the end of support in one year’s time, many are still holding on to the nearly 10-year-old Windows 7 operating system. It is always a thrill to use the latest operating system but not so many readily jump onto that boat.

The drastic changes between Windows 10 from Windows 7 might be the reason for this reluctance. Let’s find out!

FEATURES Windows 7 Windows 10
START MENU AND APPS Besides the fancy “Aero” and glass look, there are no distractions that get in your way. All the important information and settings you typically want are right there. Whatever you want to find, hit the start button and find it in the list

Re-introduces a feature of Live Tiles. Some apps in Windows 10 not only can be installed directly as .exe files but also downloaded through a platform known as the Microsoft Store. It is these apps which will have Live Tiles on the right side of the Start Menu for a quick glance.

NOTIFICATIONS, SEARCH, AND CORTANA

Windows 7, notifications typically appear in the taskbar.
Of course Cortana isn’t part of Windows 7

Windows 10 also has a dedicated notification center known as Action Center including Cortana integrated with several core areas, including the Microsoft Edge web browser, which is exclusive to Windows 10

SUPPORT AND SECURITY

Windows 7 only received one major “Service Pack” update and  in about a year’s time, support for Windows 7 will come to an end.

Updates of Windows 10 come twice a year and Microsoft intends to keep supporting the operating system into the near future

COMPATIBILITY AND GAMING

Windows 7 does have better app compatibility.

Some old third-party pieces of software work better on the older operating system.

Windows 10 has an  Xbox app. This allows you to stream content from an Xbox One over to your PC and keep tabs on Xbox Live content. You also can find popular Microsoft games for download right in the Microsoft Store on Windows 10

It is totally understandable to have plenty reasons for Windows 7 to hold a soft spot in your hearts but in this changing world as old things are being phased out gradually, your best bet is to move to a more secure version of Windows.

Malwares and viruses are always attacking computers and Microsoft is always patching things up quickly and working on updating Windows 10. It is worth switching now so you don’t have to pay the fee later that will soon be charged. Besides, there are always ways to make Windows 10 feel a bit like the old system you love.
