
In August 2011, the country’s communications regulator said in a statement that the state-run broadcaster Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) is not expected to deliver the new technology by the end of next year.

This week, the UBC confirmed that they were currently having difficulties meeting the set deadline.
In July 2011, the Ugandan government ended a telecom deal awarded to the Chinese company, Huawei due to tender irregularities.
In August 2010, Huawei signed a $74 million deal with UBC to provide the company with digital tv migration equipment, but authorities halted the deal and fired UBC’s management.
