Windows Live Writer is a blogging tool that Microsoft originally released back in 2006, and it still remains popular today, despite the last major update arriving in 2012, followed by a final, minor update in early 2014.

Its continued popularity led to growing calls for the software to be open sourced, to allow its user community to take over its development. Earlier this year, Microsoft's Scott Hanselman delivered some good news on that front, saying: "We are going to open-source Windows Live Writer."

Ride-hailing app Uber first made its way to Windows Phone 8.1 almost eighteen months ago. Now, the company is among the first major multinational brands to launch an app built on Microsoft's Universal Windows Platform (UWP), allowing it to run not just on Windows 10 Mobile smartphones, but also across Windows 10 PCs and tablets.

Luckily for us, services like Apple Music offer a family account that allows you to share your account with up to six family members. Today we can add another name to the list of services that provide this feature: Google Music, with its new Family Plan. This new plan will be available for $14.99, which puts it at the same price point as Apple Music.

LinkedIn has finally launched its rebuilt mobile app for Android and iOS. It promises a faster, more streamlined experience of the professional networking site. The app has reportedly been rebuilt from scratch to provide a user interface more in line with other social apps such as Facebook.

The new app now acts as an 'app launcher' for dedicated experiences like Pulse, Groups and JobSearch. You’ll now have five main areas within the app – Your Feed, Me, My Network, Messaging and Search.
